Jacob Côté

Hi everyone! My name is Jacob Côté, and I’m excited to be part of the Nepean CanSkate coaching team!

I’m originally from Nova Scotia, where my skating journey began. Before getting into skating, I competed in gymnastics, which gave me a great foundation in balance, coordination, flexibility, and body awareness. I started competitive skating when I was 7 years old, and skating has been a huge part of my life ever since. For the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to skate pairs with the Next Gen program, which has allowed me to travel and compete internationally. I really enjoy the challenges that come with competitive skating, but some of my favourite moments are also the ones where I get to share my love of the sport with others. I’m a certified CanSkate coach and working on my Regional certification. My goal is to make skating fun, encouraging, and positive while helping each skater develop their skills at their own pace. Outside of skating and coaching, I’m currently completing my Master’s in Physiotherapy at the University of Ottawa. My background as a competitive athlete and my studies in physiotherapy have given me a strong interest in the study of movement and how we can help athletes develop their abilities safely and confidently.
